09:57 am Modly - "Oh Wise One" Note --
Hey all,
Several things have come up recently and I wanted to give them a quick shout out. I'm not pointing fingers by any means. Just consider these things and keep them in mind. ;P
1.) Threads - Keep them going. Sometimes it doesn't take many entries to complete a thread but there are a lot of unfinished ones (again, something I am guilty of). Do try to finish them and give it some closure, having a character leave or fall asleep or whatever.
2.) In thread - Keep in mind all lines of conversation and try to put someone there who can keep conversation going for all characters. I try to do this with mine but since I am almost exclusively Slytherin, at times it doesn't work. If you aren't sure how to respond, take it up with someone or even me. We are all friends here and no one is offended.
3.) Journal Entries - Let's try to make them more than one sentence. A paragraph is nice, two is better. Also, try not to make them exclusively private to self. Unless my characters have something very important to say to someone else or are in a really reflective mood, most of their entries include something that everyone can reply to and usually a couple private messages along with something private to self. Give entries substance, at least some of them.
4.) Random Commenting - Do it. There are a lot of updates and people like replies from anyone. You never know when your character might make a new friend. If they have something to say, even in snark, comment. When I do an entry, I mean for it to get responses. It's more fun that way.
5.) Use the friends button - Fi puts them there for a reason. We have a lot of new people coming in and their lists are not complete. I know a lot of us have multiple characters but take a minute and update flists for all. Thank you in advance.
6.) Plot - plot with anyone and everyone. I know story has moved slowly and yes, I do have a plan. I was waiting a bit for a few new players to come in and they are so things will be picking up shortly. Until then, keep going.
Finally, any problems or questions, contact us. We do not bite - well, maybe I do, but don't be shy, it only hurts for a minute. Seriously, I am manicgrey on AIM and am usually around, or Fi is at Fitehfishy. Use them. ;P
Thanks everyone for doing a great job, Chris - *just like Yoda only better*

05:36 pm - The Game Is Open The game is now open!
This is Chris, and I am so sorry this took so long. Between GJ having its fits, and Fi and I being sick, we have had a rough go. However we are here and ready to go and thanks to everyone who moved. I know it is a pain but I think we are better off for it.
So, I do have a few points of business to take care of. If everyone can do an intro post in the OOC, that would be great. I will do mine first. Most of us know each other but for anyone new who joins it is a big help. Tell us who you are and a bit about your characters and what side they are on DE, Order, or neutral, etc.
The Plot - Cannon through Deathly Hallows
It is August 20, 1998. The dark lord has been destroyed by Harry Potter and the wizarding world rejoiced. The end of the war brought change to the wizarding world, mostly for the better. People, especially muggle borns, no longer live in fear. The ministry has been thoroughly cleaned and is up and running, making themselves ready for elections in the spring.
The death eaters have been rounded up and some sent to prison but others who claimed to be Imperiused or coerced into service have been released with a pardon and a show of goodwill towards all men. Rodolphus Lestrange at the loss of his wife, claimed the imperius curse and is now working to serve the ministry to prove what he can do for society. He has taken an unfamiliar role of ministry spokesperson and has become quite popular with his show of intellect and concern for the well-being of the wizarding world. Things are not always as they seem.
After the final battle of Hogwarts, many parents complained to the Ministry Department of Education. Their children did not graduate, nor did they complete exams or get a proper education. There was talk of boycotting the school, forcing it to close. The ministry, and new headmistress, Minerva McGonagal, came up with a plan. They would offer an 8th year to those who should have finished to see that they could get a proper year of schooling and complete everything they needed to. They would have extra liberties as they would be of age as well. Most parents responded favorably and have agreed to send their children to finish the year properly. For those who could not attend, it is also their chance to make up for what they had lost, welcomed back with open arms and an apology from the school and the ministry.
Everything seems to be going well, but good and evil do go hand in hand and there are forces at work both at Hogwarts and in the Ministry as the dark side tries to reclaim power over the wizarding world. It is often difficult to see who is on what side, but the dark lord's fellowship is alive and well, building up enough momentum until they can rise again.
